Mineral Abrasives
Garnet
A silicate mineral of varied composition, red to brown in colour, formed as a sharply angular rhombic dodecahedron — a polyhedron of twelve diamond-shaped faces.
Features
- Higher density and hardness than low-cost abrasives such as silica sand, slag or steel grit — faster working speed
- A natural combination of almandine garnet and other minerals, with free silica below 1%
- Non-toxic, with no risk of silicosis
Applications
- Removal of surface contamination and pre-treatment for painting
- Waterjet cutting
